Golpahar Mahashmashan Kalibari

The history of Golpahar Mahashmashan Kalibari is deeply intertwined with the cultural and religious heritage of Chattogram. Established many decades ago as an ancient cremation ground Kali temple, it has stood as a testament to the enduring faith of the local Hindu population. Historically, cremation grounds (shmashans) have been revered as sacred spaces associated with Lord Shiva and Goddess Kali, and this site has preserved that spiritual legacy. For generations, the temple has been the focal point for the traditional Mahashmashan Kali Puja, celebrated with immense devotion, elaborate rituals, and grand arrangements. During Diwali and Shyama Puja, the entire temple complex is illuminated with thousands of clay lamps, creating a magnificent spiritual ambiance that attracts thousands of devotees. Over the years, the temple infrastructure has been renovated and expanded through the collective efforts of local committees and generous contributions from the community, ensuring that the ancient traditions are kept alive for future generations while adapting to the needs of modern visitors.
