About
History
According to historical records, the Shree Shree Maa Raksha Kali Puja has been observed in Shekharnagar since 901 BS (1495 AD) through the initiative of the local Rishi (Das) community. The ritual originated as a divine protection effort against epidemics and evil forces, starting with a procession carrying the deity's holy plate (Thal) and pot (Ghat) around the village. The temple is locally renowned as spiritually awakened; according to devotees, the main midnight worship and the sacrificial offering of over a thousand goats take place on a specific Tuesday or Saturday in the month of Chaitra, dictated by divine dream commands. Today, the festival and its weeklong fair stand as a symbol of interfaith harmony.
