Located in Tarabari of Shikarpur Upazila, Uzirpur, Barishal, Sugandha Shaktipeeth is an ancient pilgrimage site dedicated to Shakti worship. Locally it is also called Shri Shri Ugratara Temple. The presiding deity, Goddess Sunanda, is worshipped here in the form of Ugratara. According to the peeth tradition, it is believed that Sati's nose fell here; this identity of Sugandha is also listed in Banglapedia's Shaktipeeth catalogue.
The Vaishnavite triambaka of this peeth is Vaishnav. In religious descriptions, his place of worship is identified as Ponabali in Jhalakathi—treating the locations of Shikarpur's Devi temple and Vaishnav as the same pin on a map is incorrect. The combination of the goddess's local form, the identity of Sugandha Peeth, and the Shakti tradition of the riverside village has forged the temple's religious significance.
Older local accounts mention a walled courtyard, an entrance gate, and two ponds built on a dock. Devotees gather here for Tara puja and other annual festivals. This temple in Shikarpur is distinct from the Ugratara Temple of the same name in Guwahati, India.
