Situated on the eastern bank of the ancient Bhairab River in Kodla (Ayodhya) village of Barai Para Union, Bagerhat Sadar, the Kodla Math (also known as Ayodhya Math) is a remarkable 17th-century architectural monument. Built in the 'Rekha Deul' or Shikhara style reminiscent of 16th-century Odisha temple architecture, the square-plan structure rises to about 18.29 meters with 3.17-meter-thick walls of polished red brick. Its exterior features polygonal recessed bands richly decorated with terracotta floral and geometric motifs, with three arched entrances on the south, east, and west. It is a protected monument under the Department of Archaeology of Bangladesh.

About
History
Built in the 17th century CE, the monument once bore a short inscription in old Bengali script above its southern entrance reading 'Sharmana uddishya tarakam (Brahma) prasadohyam binirmitah', suggesting that a Brahmin scholar (often associated in local tradition with Maharaja Pratapaditya's court poet Abilamba Saraswati) constructed this shrine in devotion to Taraka Brahma. The structure has been listed as a protected archaeological monument since the British period and is currently maintained by the Department of Archaeology of Bangladesh.
