Biography
Bamakhyapa (1837–1911) was a renowned Shakta saint and Tantric practitioner of Bengal, who spent his life meditating and practicing spiritual austerities at the Tarapith cremation ground in Birbhum. He was an ardent devotee of Goddess Tara, whom he lovingly addressed as 'Tara Ma'. From childhood, he exhibited intense spiritual yearning. He attained spiritual perfection (siddhi) under the guidance of Kailashpati, a prominent saint of Tarapith. Known for his childlike simplicity, intense devotion, and eccentric (khepa) behavior, he came to be revered as Bamakhyapa.
Teachings
He emphasized inner devotion and intense yearning over rigid external rituals. He taught that unconditional surrender to Mother Tara is the path to liberation.

He is widely believed to have had direct visions of Goddess Tara, and numerous accounts exist of his spiritual healing abilities and clairvoyance.
